The Atlantic black-throated trogon (Trogon chrysochloros) is a bird in the trogon family, Trogonidae that is found in southeastern South America.
It breeds in lowlands of eastern and southern Brazil, Paraguay and northeastern Argentina. It has a yellow belly, pale blue eyerings and a yellow bill. Like all trogons, the Atlantic black-throated trogon has distinct sexual dimorphism. The male has a greenish-blue upperpart, while the female has a brown one.[1] It was previously considered conspecific with other black-throated trogons. The species epithet chrysochloros derives from the Greek Greek, Ancient (to 1453);: χρυσος/ means gold, and Greek, Ancient (to 1453);: χλωρος/ means green.[1]
