Diocese of Southern Malawi-Upper Shire explained

The Diocese of Upper Shire is one of the four diocese in Malawi within the Church of the Province of Central Africa:[1] the current bishop is William Mchombo.[2]

The diocese was split from the Diocese of Southern Malawi and its first Bishop was Bernard Malango. Malango was succeeded by Brighton Vitta Malasa in 2008. He served until 2022 when he was excommunicated for disobeying church orders.[3] He was replaced by William Mchombo, the current Bishop who was enthroned on 18th May 2024. [4]
