- Hiro is the god of thieves in Tahiti mythology, and a demigod in Polynesian mythology.[9] He was the first builder of large canoes with planks sewn together called pahi.[10]
- On Easter Island is an ancient stone aerophone called the Pu o Hiro (Trumpet of Hiro) to invoke the god of rain Hiro in the easternmost Polynesian culture of the Rapa Nui.[11]
