Lavoûte-Chilhac (in French pronounced as /lavut ʃijak/; Occitan (post 1500);: La Vòuta) is a commune in the Haute-Loire department in south-central France.
The village is located at an altitude of over 400 meters.[2]
In the gorges of the Allier, the village of Lavoûte-Chilhac is about halfway between Langeac and Vieille-Brioude (end of the gorges of the Allier which then joins the Limagne de Brioude).
