Meiocardia Explained

Meiocardia is a genus of marine bivalves in the family Glossidae.

Species

As of 2024, WoRMS classifies the following six extant species as belonging to Meiocardia:

• Meiocardia cumingi
• Meiocardia hawaiana
• Meiocardia moltkiana
• Meiocardia samarangiae
• Meiocardia sanguineomaculata
• Meiocardia vulgaris

There are also a number of species only known from the fossil record:

• †Meiocardia palmerae
• †Meiocardia floridana
• †Meiocardia septemcostata
• †Meiocardia subcumingii
