Highway 48 is a provincial highway in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The highway runs from Highway 1 at White City, about east of Regina, to the Manitoba — Saskatchewan border. It is about long.
This highway was known as Highway 16 until 1976. It was renumbered as Highway 48 when the Yellowhead Highway was designated as Highway 16 throughout the province.
The original Highway 48 was located in south-western Saskatchewan, travelling from the Willow Creek Border Crossing to Highway 13 at Govenlock.[1] The route was renumbered to Highway 348 in the 1960s[2] before becoming part of Highway 21 in the 1970s.[3]
Highway 48 begins at the Trans-Canada Highway at White City about east of Regina. It travels in an easterly direction towards Manitoba where it becomes Provincial Road 257. Communities along the route include Davin, Vibank,[4] Odessa,[5] Kendal, Montmartre,[6] Candiac, Glenavon,[7] Peebles,[8] Windthorst,[9] Kipling,[10] Kennedy,[11] Wawota,[12] Fairlight,[13] and Maryfield.[14]
