Veleň is a municipality and village in Prague-East District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,000 inhabitants.
The village of Mírovice is an administrative part of Veleň.
Veleň is located about 7km (04miles) north of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape in the Central Elbe Table.
The first written mention of Veleň is from 1318. Until 1678, it was owned by various lower noblemen. In 1678, the Nostitz family bought Veleň and annexed it to the Pakoměřice estate.[2]
The railway line Prague–Všetaty briefly crosses the municipal territory in the west, but there is no train station.
There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[3]
